A collection of cutlers work shop Stools.
Of ash and elm construction, all standing on pole lathe turned legs and cut corner seats. Similar stools used in the Birmingham jewellery district have chamfered legs but the same shaped seat; the Birmingham Stools also differ in that they are predominantly made from tropical hardwoods and English oak.
A wonderful example of vernacular industrial furniture and an extremely rare find, all from the same workshop in the centre of Sheffield’s cutlery district.
The word “Cutlery” refers to “that which cuts”.
Sheffield late 19th Century.
Price is for the collection.
